Frequently asked questions and general information

Why should you use our service?
*Our guides and drivers are trained professionals who enjoy the company of new friends from lands far and wide.
They all have valid Professional Drivers Permits (PDP) without which no one should ever be transfered.
*All our vehicles are clean, air-conditioned, very well maintained and have the necessary permits and registration certificates.
* Our reservation service is fast and friendly and we enjoy questions, remember, we know the area and we are not shy to share what we know.
* We carry the appropriate insurances for each vehicle covered by the South African Tourism Insurance Board (SATIB) and underwritten by Loyd’s of London and Hollard. SATIB also offers a 24 hour crisis call centre should anything go wrong.
*We form part of our larger tourism community in the Lowveld and South Africa and belong to official bodies such as KLCBT and SATSA.
So in short, we are a professional, safe, reliable and affordable option for most of your travel and tour needs.

What is the Lowveld?
The Lowveld or Slowveld as it is affectionately known to the locals can be found in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa with towns such as Nelspruit, White River and Hazyview as its main role players.
If you can, visit the Slowveld shop in White River at the Casterbridge Centre for all kinds of Slowveld goodies before you depart on our shuttle.

A little bit about distances…
South Africa is not a huge country but travel distances can still be daunting to some travellers. For instance a trip between MQP (Nelspruit Airport) and a rest camp or lodge in the southern part of the Kruger Park can take anything between 2 hours and 3 hours, do ask your consultant about travel times as this prepares you but also helps you to plan around things like flight times and game drives. We have added Kruger National Park distances and time sheet for your reference.
However, remember we will always send an order to you with all the transfer details and you will have a good idea of what lies ahead once you’ve read through it.

Gratuity
Tipping is not a town in China…as they say.
Please feel free to tip your driver or guide if they delivered good service and did their jobs as excellent as we know they do.
A good rule of thumb is 10-15% of the transfer fee. If you have six or more people in your group you can amend the tip appropriately.
If you enjoyed a guided tour or safari with us feel free to tip the guide around ZAR 50 per person in your group.

Open vehicle safaris vs Closed vehicle safaris
We know everyone has that African safari dream of experiencing the African bush up close and personal, within touching distance (but PLEASE DON’T touch) of our beautiful country's wild animals, but unfortunately for some this may be only a dream. You may have young children in your group, have allergies or feel that up close and personal is too close and personal, maybe you are just looking for a relaxing air-conditioned drive while experiencing the African bush. Whatever the reason, closed vehicle safaris are growing in popularity and we offer these to you at competitive rates.
A closed vehicle game drive through the park from one lodge to another is also a fantastic option to look at (depending of course on your location).

Reserve entrance fees
These fees are payable in an effort to preserve and sustain the reserves, we have made a summary of the most commonly used reserves underneath for your convenience, but we will also show these separately when we send our quote to you.

What is the difference between a shuttle, a private transfer and a taxi?
In South Africa we consider a shuttle as a shared ride, this is normally a cheaper option but with specific set parameters such as a set schedule or locations.
A private transfer is a great opportunity to experience South Africa from within the comfort of a private vehicle and there are no limitations with regards to times and locations, these are all set by you or in accordance with your flight details and location details.
A taxi service as we provide it, is the same as a private transfer, private and with your own parameters. However, in South Africa we also have public transportation services called taxi’s and this is not generally a safe or reliable service for tourists.

Do you supply baby seats?
Yes we do supply baby seats. A baby seat is compulsory for children 3 years and younger, please let us know when making your booking.
